What is Mediation?

Mediation is a voluntary process and the decisions to which issues are agreed upon stem solely on the individuals.  Mediation is a process whereby an impartial third party is retained to assist in resolving issues between the separating couple.

The goal is to provide couples with the best possible alternative to litigating by offering approaches to effectively communicate in order to reach an agreement.

Mediation assists individuals negotiate a fair and viable agreement, which are mutually cooperative, amicable and meets the needs of each family member. Since family mediation is a voluntary process, it is recommended that both clients are committed to the non-adversarial approach. This process will inevitably improve communication, enhance cooperation and likely reduce tension which has been proven to have more sustainability over a longer period of time. Collaborative Mediation provides an alternative to litigation.
